Director · Creative Lead

Directed a virtual production spoof ad from concept to delivery, leading a team of eight collaborators and using Unreal Engine workflows.

Final Film · Head Rush

Head Rush is a spoof advert for a ridiculous wind-powered phone charger, following one man’s increasingly desperate attempts to generate enough power. Created using virtual production and Unreal Engine, the film mixes live action, comedy and deliberately over-the-top product advertising.

Behind the Scenes

Behind the scenes, we used two volume screens - one for the virtual background and one to create realistic reflections. The live-action performance was filmed in-camera against environments created by the VAD team, with a wind blower adding movement and atmosphere on set. The film was then finished with dubbing, sound design and colour grading.

Together, refined the helmet to feel less corporate and more playful, moving from white to yellow and giving it more of a skater feel. We kept the hard-shell helmet because it gave us a solid base for attaching the windmill, and switched to a cup-style design as it was more functional and held up better in the wind.
